Framed in the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the National Health Service, APSAi – Portuguese Association of Environmental Health, during the International Congress of Environmental Health that will take place from 25-27 September 2019, will tribute to Environmental Health Technicians whom in 2019 complete 40 years of profession at the National Health Service.
These professionals graduated at the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge in 1979, started their professional activity at the same year as National Health Service, specifically at the Public Health Services, where they remain until today.
The Environmental Health Technician profession is a Ministry of Health regulated profession, and its exercise is conditioned to obtaining a Professional Certificate. The Environmental Health Technician is a health professional who acts in environment sanitary control and is responsible for detecting, identifying, analysing, preventing and correcting current or potential environmental health risks that may be caused by natural phenomena or by human activities, the evolution of population clusters, the functioning of services, establishments and places of public use or any other cause.
The initiative will be held in Lisbon School of Health Technology’ auditorium on September 25.
